How does Patrowl discover new assets ?
How does Patrowl discover new assets ?
Updated over 3 months ago

The continuous Patrowl cartography is mostly based on top domains registered on the dashboard (ex: patrowl.io, greenlock.fr …).

We will continuously search for new subdomains or IPs belonging to your company using various technics (Certificate, Bruteforce DNS, Passive DNS etc etc). Assets will be automatically added in your dashboard and can easily be found in the “New assets” menu.

For the time being, new resolved IPs (Amazon, Azure, OVH) can be found in the IP Adresses menu. As these IPs will change often, they will be automaticity deleted when none of your subdomains resolve to these IPs anymore.

The automatic deletion only concerns IPs created automatically by Patrowl, your manually added IPs will not be deleted.

For his reason, the list of top domains registered in Patrowl is a crucial element of your cartography to avoid false positives.

During the setup of the platform, you will have the complete list of all top domains found on Internet using automation that will be integrated in your dashboard, but it should be noted that new top domains will never be created automatically by Patrowl, as it creates too many false positive.

To enjoy cartography on a new known top domain (new affiliate, new brand, purchase of a new company), just manually add the top domain within Patrowl and automation will take care of the rest.
